Color me disappointed about Supra-Sentinels. I would just go ahead and buy Modern Knights but the reviews on DTRPG are mostly bad, only one of the three example characters is actually downloadable, and that seems to be the end of the “support” for it…
Modern Knights is an early narrative game from the very early 00s and never saw a lot of support. Plaid Rabbit release a couple of other games like Pocket Warrior, but it was very much a DIY effort. I don't know that I'd be as hard on the game as the DTRPG reviewers, but it is a very different game. Maybe I'll break open my copy and give it a run through to evaluate in a future post and maybe a video.
Not enough of d20 Spectaculars was finished for it to ever be released. Now, 19 years later, I *could* 're'create it from scratch without being concerned I was using any of the words WotC paid me for.
But Evil Genius Games' doing a "Spectacular Heroes' game seems more likely to actually happen.
I may be the only one, but I was super jazzed about the game. I remember checking in at the game store where I bought my stuff to the point where I was sure I annoyed the owner. I'm a big fan of your work and imagine it would have been fun to play.
Interesting on the WTotC product. I always envisioned in 2E AD&D, you could make your own superhero with the add-on books.
Back in the late 80s and early 90s, they covered so many aspects of role playing with Shadowrun, AD&D. Plus if you knew the rule sets you could really turn anything into a d20 game.
Don't think I didn't make a convention adventure where Captain America was a multi-classed Paladin/Monk and the Hulk was a Barbarian because I did. Kits, the later player option books, and more made it easy.
That Proton Fire cover gives me some major Crossfire vibes (that 90s ball shooting game with a killer commercial jingle). It’s a shame it never saw the light of day.
I am still waiting (I know it is hopeless!) for the DM guide for Lamentations of the Flame Princess! I don't even remember how many years have passed since the kickstart... the painful point is that the text is there and content-wise I am looking forward to reading it without any interest on the layout... too bad!

It would have been fun... though I suspect I'm make a better game now than I would have 20 years ago. :)
