What I find interesting about Chill is how ahead of its time it was regarding setting, at least regarding "style" of horror play. When I was young, no one wanted to play it because it was "kiddie horror," but I loved the Hammeresque imagery and the concept of a secret organization fighting against evil. A slightly more heroic horror appealed to me, but not to my friends who wanted all "grim dark" all the time.
While CoC is still the big dog today, largely due to it being the only survivor from the earlier era, the new horror games coming out like Candela Obscura come straight from the Chill playbook. The mechanics are different, but the semi-heroic bent is there and Chill was the font for that kind of play.
I have the DC Heroes (Mayfair) 2nd edition boxed set to this day. I understood and liked most of the system, but every time I got to the “building gadgets/vehicles” section, I just threw my hands up and walked away :)
If Ron Goulart thought that kids were being advertised too much in the 70s, I could only imagine what he would've wrote in today's climate of advertising disguised as content and overt product placement.
For the awards, what precisely should we submit as the URL?
Given the Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid mention, I was thinking "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" might be one of the song choices this week. Probably the movie's most lasting legacy.
No, you cannot nominate yourself. We want to maintain the integrity of this event being peer driven, and we appreciate putting your colleagues in the TTRPG Community as your nominations. However, you can nominate a production you may have guested or appeared on."
Considering I do write dedicated articles for this site, I'm not sure where I fit in that. I wouldn't want my vote to be disqualifying. I feel like what I do overall is a bit more than being a guest.
Thanks for the shout out! I’m a huge Pacesetter fan from back in the day. I could never find any players for a Chill game, though.

Yes, the S.A.V.E. organization was a brilliant tool for getting people together to punch a monster in the face. Why didn’t we see that back then?

I really like the gadget system. It is easier than Hero and more flexible than Marvel, but it has been a sticking point for a lot of people.

I would submit either the geekeratimedia.substack.com url or a specific article that caught your fancy.
As for "Knockin' on Heaven's Door." It is a great song and I do highly recommend it. It's even thematic with the other folk songs.
Hmm...

I agree.
Right! Up to the rest of y'all readers!
