I want to take a moment to say hello and thank all of you for subscribing. In particular I’d like to thank
, , , and whose Substacks have directed a number of you in my direction.I’m working hard on creating an entertaining and engaging newsletter and I hope I am meeting those goals. My aim is to discuss a broad array of topics and to highlight and promote interesting articles and commentary discussing all aspects of popular culture. I issued the first survey in March and have used it as a guide for the content I provide and my audience has grown since then to about triple the size. With all those new readers, I am once again asking you for your opinions about the features you’d like to see more of on this Newsletter.
I have divided the questions by pop culture category and for each of the questions, I will provide links to two articles related to the question. Please take a moment to share your thoughts and preferences.
Movie Commentary and Reviews
Weekly Geekly Rundown
Playable Game Content
Gaming Industry Commentary
Gaming History Stuff
Genre Fiction and Fandom Articles
Videos
Those are all the questions I have for now. I am very much enjoying what I am doing currently, but I’d like to continue to grow the Newsletter and to maintain your interest as readers. I am extremely grateful for your participation and I’ve seen growth in the comments section lately, which suggests I’ on the right path.
As you may have noticed, I am largely positive in my commentary on this site. That’s because I believe that there is a dearth of positive commentary on the internet and that it’s a niche that deserves promotion. That doesn’t mean I and my co-authors won’t be critical from time to time, but it does mean we will usually talk about the things we like rather than look for things to rant about.
I know you do music recommendations, but I would be interested in seeing some of your in-depth views on albums and/or artists.
I don't really consume podcasts, but I certainly can't think of any reason NOT to embed them. People are free not to hit play. The only thing I don't like on that score (in general, not specifically here) is if the headline of the article makes me think it'll be something to read and then it's JUST video/audio.
